After an incredible season so far and before the fires of Glastonbury have cooled off Arcadia are really looking forward to their first appearance on the island to hot things up. They will be creating a flame installation in the main festival area with more finely crafted scrap heap madness. Expect smoking trees and flame balls shooting into the sky in time to music!

The Play People
The Play People have many artists and performers but the two founders are Michael Bell and Joanna Taylor.
Mike is from the Isle of Man where as Jo was brought up England way. They met on the 31st of December 2007. At a festival in New Zealand.
Previously they had both been travelling for quite a few years, Jo getting by from teaching Yoga and doing Massage, Mike from playing music and doing circusy stuff.
As Mike had been performing and doing this stuff on the Island for a couple of years all it took was Jo's way with words (she used to be a journalist) to come up with The Play People.
Our popular circus workshops can run from 30 minutes to day long sessions. Your children will get to learn all the circus arts; Including Hula Hooping, Poi, Juggling, Balancing, Plate Spinning and Diablo. On the longer workshops they will learn safely the art of clowning, slapstick and comedy.
They will be challenged in a positive, safe environment to learn new skills and find new aspects of themselves. With the outcome hopefully of them carrying on with some of the circus skills as they are widely known to help improve the mind and boost confidence.
"The Play People were a positive influence on all the kids that took part in the circus workshop. They came away excited and with few new skills. They made my son Bens day special" Beth (Happy Mom)

Headline acts announced at Mannifest 2010
With the buzz of another classic Glastonbury still in their ears, a team from the Island arrive back today Monday having spent an enjoyable weekend sourcing further acts to complement an already bulging bevvy of talent for the grass roots festival that is MANNIFEST . Bourne from the passionate vision of originator Richard Powell, the festival has grown enthusiastically from its incarnation last summer.
Now based in the spacious fields of Glenlough Glen Vine, this years line up reflects a mature grading of UK talent but more importantly local musicians for which the Island has a very respectable scene.
On board and very much established across Europe is the Chai Walla brand bringing a wealth of aspiring sometimes eclectic but always entertaining acts from their famed roster.Already confirmed are The Gentlemans Dub Club,Riddim Killa and Skitz from the UK and hugely respected local record company and meister re-mixers Ballagroove will be showcasing specially written soundtracks at the Rotten Planet Stage. WiManx are sponsoring the Main Stage with a host of local musicians and bands spread over the 3 days it takes place 6/7/8 August.
Fridays Main Headliner has just been confirmed as maverick singer/songwriter DAVID FORD who will perform with a full band. He arrived as fresh as anyone can be after a support tour to funkster ALABAMA 3.Other artists include Planes over Paris, Uber Room, Yashin and Fletcher Christian Mutiny. A passionately loud night will ensure!
The remit for this festival is simple, to bring together a field full of good people who are all there for a good vibe on and off stage.
Saturday will also showcase a generous helping of local bands including Grambo, Vex Mama,Abrasive Melody aswell as Soviet and swound! Headliner will be an especially reformed local Pink Floyd tribute PIGS ON THE WING. The classic line up includes several band members flown in for the show.
Sunday will be very much a chilled affair with the promise of some special guests to be revealed nearer the time. Already confirmed are The Very Very Bad Men, Christine Collister, Truman Falls and Anna Goldsmith so a wealth of local talent once more.

Although still in its infancy, Mannifest is in no hurry to grow too big too quickly. If the same good folk turn up every year it will mean something. In the future they hope to build up a reputation that makes their festival synonymous with great new music and a chilled relaxed experience of a family festival.
